Fish tikka
Here's a simple and delicious Fish Tikka recipe you can try at home:
Ingredients:
For marination:
- 500g boneless fish (like salmon, cod, or basa), cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup thick curd (yogurt), hung curd preferred
- 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp mustard oil (or any cooking oil)
- 1 tsp red chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp coriander powder
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1/2 tsp garam masala
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of kasuri methi (optional)
- Orange-red food color (optional)
For grilling:
- Onion, capsicum, and tomato cubes (optional, for skewering)
- Butter or oil for brushing
Instructions:

Prepare the fish:
- Wash and pat dry the fish cubes.
- Sprinkle salt and lemon juice over the fish and set aside for 15 minutes.

Make the marinade:
- In a bowl, mix curd, ginger-garlic paste, mustard oil, chili powder, turmeric, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, kasuri methi, and food color.
- Add the marinated fish cubes into this and coat well.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or overnight for better flavor).

Grill the tikka:
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (390°F) or heat a grill pan.
- Thread the fish onto skewers along with veggies if using.
- Place them on a greased baking tray or on the pan.
- Grill or bake for 15–20 minutes, turning once and basting with butter/oil midway.
- You can also broil for a couple of minutes at the end for a charred effect.

Serve:
- Sprinkle chaat masala and lemon juice on top.
- Serve hot with mint chutney and onion rings.
