Shawarma Rolls


 

Here’s a simple and tasty Shawarma Roll recipe you can try at home:


Ingredients:

For the Chicken Marinade:

  • 500g boneless chicken (thigh or breast), thinly sliced
  • 3 tbsp curd/yogurt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp cumin powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

For the Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp hung curd or Greek yogurt
  • 1 garlic clove (minced)
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Other:

  • 4 pita breads/rumali rotis/tortilla wraps
  • Sliced onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce (as per taste)
  • Pickled veggies (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Marinate the Chicken

    • Mix all marinade ingredients and coat the chicken well.
    • Let it rest for at least 1 hour (overnight is best).
  2. Cook the Chicken

    • Heat some oil in a pan. Cook the chicken on medium-high heat until nicely charred and fully cooked.
  3. Prepare the Garlic Sauce

    • Mix all sauce ingredients in a bowl. Adjust seasoning.
  4. Assemble the Roll

    • Warm the bread on a tawa or in a microwave.
    • Spread some garlic sauce on it.
    • Add cooked chicken pieces.
    • Top with sliced veggies and a little more sauce.
    • Roll it up tight and serve hot.
